Many people are familiar with the situation when, after restarting Windows, they need to open all Explorer windows and tabs again, which sometimes takes a lot of time. Now this problem will be a thing of the past – a few days ago Microsoft released a new preliminary build of Windows 11 on the Beta channel, in which, among other improvements, there was an option that allows you to remember open windows and tabs and restore them after a system reboot.

In the Explorer settings, the option “Restore previous folder windows when logging in” has appeared. When it is active, all tabs will be reopened the next time you launch Explorer after a reboot. This feature is currently only available in Windows 11 Beta update KB5046733 (build 22635.4580). Microsoft hasn’t said when this certainly useful new feature will be available to all Windows 11 users.
You can restore tabs either after rebooting the system, as shown in the animation above, or after turning it off and on again. You simply turn off or restart your computer, return to the desktop and open Explorer again – it will be restored with all windows and tabs.
