Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment, as part of a presentation for investors, spoke about the successes of the adventure action game Control and the psychological horror Alan Wake 2, and also clarified the genre of Control 2, which is in development.
As it became known, sales of Alan Wake 2 on PC (Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox Series X and S exceeded 1.8 million copies. Over the past nine and a half months, 0.5 million units of the game were thus sold.
The remaster of the original Alan Wake, released in 2021, sold 1.7 million copies. Meanwhile, the audience for games in the Alan Wake franchise as a whole has reached 15 million users.
As for Control, its audience since the original release in 2019 has exceeded 19 million players. Sales of the project on all target platforms amounted to 4.5 million copies (0.5 million more than in February).
Control will receive an update in early 2025 that will unlock some previously released content. In addition, the full edition will soon reach Mac – this will happen on February 12, 2025.
As it became known, Control 2 will be an action role-playing game. It’s unclear exactly what RPG elements will appear in the game. For full recoupment, the project needs to sell 3-4 million copies – the development budget is €50 million.
It was previously reported that Control 2 is already ready for full production and will go into production in 2025. In August, Remedy entered into a strategic partnership with Annapurna – it will help finance (50% of the budget) the game.
