According to a study by Accenture, the next decade could see a dramatic transformation in the use of digital technologies, which is caused by the rapid development of artificial intelligence. By 2030, AI agents will become the primary users of applications in enterprises, and by 2032, ordinary consumers will interact with AI agents more often than with applications, ZDNet reports.

The authors of the report call this transformation the “big binary explosion”, which occurred at the moment when fundamental AI models overcame the barrier of natural language. According to Accenture Chief Technology Officer Karthik Narain, this event kicked off changes in technology systems and how people design and use them.

Narain emphasizes that new developments “push the boundaries of software, multiply the digital potential of companies and create the basis for cognitive digital systems that deeply integrate artificial intelligence into the structure of enterprises.”

The report also highlights three key areas that will shape technological development in the coming years: agent systems, the digital core, and generative user interfaces. These areas will be deployed based on flexible and modular building blocks, allowing companies to create easily scalable and intelligent digital components.

Thus, Accenture research indicates that in the coming years, the main role in the use of digital technologies will be played not by people, but by autonomous agents controlled by AI.
