Slovenian company PaintCam demonstrated a new approach to home security systems at CES 2025: uninvited guests will not only be caught on surveillance cameras, but will also be shot with paintballs if necessary.

Doorbell cameras are becoming an everyday reality today: they are becoming cheaper and easier to manage. PaintCam suggested a way to make them somewhat more effective – by shooting paint balls at uninvited people or animals. Having completed campaigns on the Kickstarter and Indiegogo platforms, the manufacturer took part in CES 2025 in Las Vegas.
The Eve, Eve+ and EvePro systems are designed primarily to counter people who are trying to invade someone else’s home, and the Simba, which has a camouflage color, scares away wild animals. Depending on the configuration, the system has a set of functions for detecting animals, recognizing animals and human faces – artificial intelligence algorithms are used for this.
Paintballs are available in a variety of charges, including those containing capsaicin, the substance that gives chili peppers their heat, which the manufacturer says is legal in most countries. There are options with paint that glows in ultraviolet light – it will help the police track down the offender.
