Atari has teamed up with retro game maker My Arcade to create one of the most unusual handheld gaming consoles in recent years. We are talking about the Gamestation Go device, which, apparently, is a redesigned version of the Gamestation Portable announced about a year ago.

The console combines traditional controls such as the D-pad, analog stick and A, B, X and Y buttons with a number pad and trackball – the latter of which is extremely rare in handheld gaming devices. There are also Start and Settings buttons on the case, and R1, R2, L1 and L2 buttons along the top. There is also a power button, a slot for a microSD memory card, Home and volume buttons, USB Type-C and HDMI interfaces, as well as a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The presence of HDMI suggests that the console can be connected to a monitor or TV.
Most controls are fully or partially backlit, and a pair of USB Type-C ports on the back of the case are designed to connect wired controllers. On the back of the device there are ventilation holes and a stand for convenient placement of the console on the table. Information about the configuration, supported games and retail price of Gamestation Go has not yet been disclosed. However, given the variety of controls, we can assume that the console will support multiple gaming platforms.
More detailed information about the new Atari console is expected in the coming days, when the annual CES 2025 exhibition starts in Las Vegas. Let us recall that the Gamestation Portable, announced a year ago, was supposed to go on sale at the end of 2024 at a price of about $150. The new Gamestation Go will probably cost about the same.
