3.5 Gbps over 35 km: Huawei and Zain KSA successfully tested Superlink Microwave

Huawei announced successful results of a joint proof of concept of the Superlink Microwave solution with Zain KSA from Saudi Arabia. This testing was carried out under the Universal Service Fund (USF) program of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) of Saudi Arabia.

During testing, a connection throughput of 3.5 Gbit/s was achieved over a distance of 35 km with availability of up to 99.999%. In the future, the speed can be gradually increased to 8 Gbps. This marks the first commercial application of Huawei’s Superlink solution with universal ODUs (outdoor units).

A critical component of the device is said to be an innovative quad-band antenna designed to support all channels in the 6/7/8/11 GHz frequency bands simultaneously. The use of universal ODUs allows the solution to be widely deployed with high efficiency and low cost. The new product allows us to solve critical problems associated with the deployment of microwave communication lines.

James Zeng, President of Huawei’s Microwave Product Line, noted Zain KSA’s significant role in launching the innovative solution, which significantly improves network throughput and reliability, and “sets a new standard in microwave technology, delivering reliable performance and scalability for telecommunications networks.” next generation.”
