Microsoft has announced a major expansion of its Xbox Cloud Gaming service, allowing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream their favorite games from their personal library on any device, including tablets, smartphones and PCs.
The update, which aims to make the entire Xbox catalog available for cloud streaming, is part of Microsoft’s larger project known as Project Lapland and covers 50 games so far. In the future, we will talk about thousands of games from the Xbox library, as reported by The Verge.
«Our library of games available for cloud gaming will continue to grow as we work with partners around the world to offer a diverse and expansive selection across all devices,” said Ashley McKissick, corporate vice president of Xbox Experiences. .
New games will be available for streaming on TVs, smartphones, tablets and PCs via a web browser. Next year, Microsoft also plans to add support for streaming games from the Xbox library on Xbox consoles and the Xbox app for Windows.
However, while there will be thousands of games available through Xbox Cloud Gaming in the future, some publishers may limit access to some of them due to licensing requirements or agreements.
In addition, difficulties arose with paying for games in the Xbox mobile application for Android in the United States due to the fact that Google received a reprieve from the execution of a court decision, which obliges it to abandon the mandatory use of Google Play Billing for applications in the Play Store. Therefore, it is not yet clear when Microsoft will be able to implement the purchase of games in its Xbox mobile application on Android devices.
