The PlayStation Portal console now supports streaming games from the cloud

Developers from Sony have added support for cloud gaming to their portable gaming console PlayStation Portal. At the time of sales, the device could only stream games from the PlayStation 5 via Wi-Fi. Now users will be able to stream dozens of games from the PlayStation Plus catalog to a portable console.

At the moment, we are talking about a beta version of the game streaming function, which will only be available to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers. According to Sony, an Internet connection speed of 7 Mbps is sufficient to ensure 720p quality when streaming games from the cloud, and 13 Mbps for 1080p.

Some PlayStation Plus features will not be available when streaming games from the cloud to PlayStation Portal. For example, you cannot play trial versions of games, use group voice chat, enable 3D audio, etc. Additionally, playback of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 games is not supported. This means that users will only be able to stream games for PlayStation 5.

Premium PlayStation Plus subscribers from the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy and a number of other countries will be able to start interacting with this feature in the near future. Along with the new streaming feature, PlayStation Portal will offer the ability to use a lower minimum volume level, as well as options to customize PlayStation Link settings.
