The major automobile exhibition currently taking place in Guangzhou predictably became the place for the announcement of new models of electric vehicles, and Jiyue, supported by the Internet giant Baidu, presented there a very ambitious electric sports car Robo X, which will be able to reach a speed of 100 km/h in less than 1.9 seconds, as well as rush around the race track on autopilot.
Baidu’s partner in this project is the Chinese holding Geely, which currently owns the British brand Lotus, so there is little doubt about the sporting ambitions of the Jiyue brand. In addition, Baidu’s traditional specialization in information technology gives the car not only support for an advanced voice assistant, but also a full-fledged SAE level 4 autopilot, which will allow the sports car to move around the race track at high speed without human intervention.
«The “race of ambition” of electric sports car manufacturers now forces them to fight for tenths of a second in the “less than two seconds” range when it comes to acceleration time to 100 km/h, and in this regard, Jiyue Robo X is ready to challenge the old-timers of the market like the same Tesla, not to mention numerous Chinese manufacturers.
It is noteworthy that the Jiyue Robo X combines the hurricane acceleration dynamics with a power reserve of 650 km, which is ensured by a combination of a traction battery with a capacity of 100 kWh and good aerodynamics. The creators of the car claim that when developing the design, they were inspired by the appearance of aircraft fighters, and such features will become the canon of auto design for the next twenty years. The car body is made of high-strength aluminum and carbon fiber, its weight does not exceed 1850 kg. The double salon invites you to immerse yourself in it through two guillotine-type doors. The squat silhouette is determined by the proportions of the body: with a length of 4650 mm and a width of 2000 mm, its height does not exceed 1195 mm. The wheelbase of 2700 mm provides both good stability and substantial space in the cabin, which is natural given the presence of only two seats.
Pre-orders for this car in China have already begun to be accepted; to get in line, you need to make a deposit of less than $7,000, but the full cost of the supercar has not been disclosed. Serial production will begin no earlier than 2027, so thematic publications will have to mention this model in the news more than once in the next couple of years.
