Netflix’s ad-supported plan reached 70 million users in two years

Netflix has announced that its ad-supported plan, launched two years ago, has reached a new milestone of 70 million subscribers. This is a big jump from the 40 million users of this plan that Netflix reported in May of this year.

It also became known that the ad-supported plan accounts for 50% of all new subscriptions in countries where it is available. Let us remind you that the Netflix tariff, which involves the demonstration of commercials during interaction with the service, is available in the USA, Australia, Brazil, Great Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and some other countries from November 2022.

It’s no surprise that the ad-supported plan is so popular, since Netflix deliberately encourages customers to use it. You can watch Netflix content with ads for $6.99 a month, which is significantly cheaper than the most affordable ad-free plan. The company also made the ad-supported plan attractive by adding support for higher resolutions and a number of other features.

Netflix previously launched its own advertising platform in Canada, which should become available worldwide next year. Last month, the company reported an increase in total subscribers to 282.7 million.
