Activision Blizzard, owned by Microsoft since last fall, told The Washington Post that total sales of Call of Duty games have surpassed half a billion (that is, 500 million) copies.

Thanks to this, Call of Duty has become the second most successful franchise in history, ahead of Grand Theft Auto (430 million), Pokemon (480 million) and even Tetris (495 million) – only Nintendo’s Mario (879 million) remains ahead. million).

The history of the series began in 2003 with the release of the original Call of Duty. Over the next 20 years, Activision released 20 more serialized entries in the franchise, including the newest Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was released on October 25 and became the first game in the series to be available on Game Pass since its release. Despite this, the launch of the shooter turned out to be the largest in the history of the franchise.
