Today, October 7, the cult horror game Alien: Isolation turned 10 years old, and the developers of the original game from the Creative Assembly studio decided to celebrate the anniversary with a special announcement.
Alien: Isolation creative director Alistair Hope, in an address to fans on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the game, confirmed that Creative Assembly had taken on the creation of a sequel.
«As we celebrate our tenth anniversary, I think it’s more fitting than ever to let you know that we have heard your calls loud and clear,” Hope said of how fans have been asking Sega for years to release Alien: Isolation 2.
Details of the sequel have not been specified at this stage. What is known is that the game is in the early stages of development. Creative Assembly will begin to reveal information about the sequel “when they are ready.”
Alien: Isolation takes place on the Sevastopol space station, where Amanda Ripley (Ellen’s daughter from the films) faces ruthless androids and a deadly xenomorph.
According to Hope, the team’s main goal when developing the game was to create a truly authentic experience that captured the atmosphere and horror of the original Alien film, released in 1979.
Alien: Isolation debuted on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and subsequently reached Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android. Sega was pleased with the game’s critical reception, but the same could not be said about sales.
