The lawsuit with Nintendo and The Pokemon Company in Japan does not prevent the developers from the Pocketpair studio from developing their acclaimed survival simulator Palworld – the game has been confirmed to be transferred to new target platforms.
South Korean publisher and developer Krafton announced in a press release on its official website that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Pocketpair, under which it will transfer Palworld to mobile devices.
The Krafton-controlled company PUBG Studios, known for its work on PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PC, consoles) and New State Mobile (iOS, Android), will be responsible for creating the mobile version of Palworld.
The details of the mobile version of Palworld have not yet been revealed by Pal, but Krafton promises a rethinking and adaptation of the main elements of the gameplay for smartphones. Release dates have not been specified.
Palworld early access started on January 19 this year on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X, S and Game Pass, and at the end of September the game was released on PS5 (not in Japan). The project’s audience exceeds 25 million people.
Palworld offers to breed, arm, eat and send Pals to work – creatures suspiciously similar to Pokemon. The mentioned lawsuit is not related to the design of the creatures – “Pokemon with guns” violates the patent rights of Pokemon owners.
Pocketpair does not know what kind of violations Nintendo and The Pokemon Company attribute to Palworld. It is assumed that, among other things, we are talking about the mechanics of catching monsters in a Pokeball-like capsule.
