LG, Razer and MediaTek Unveil Bluetooth Ultra-Low Latency Technology with 1ms Input Latency

LG, Razer and MediaTek presented Bluetooth Ultra-Low Latency (BT ULL) wireless technology at the LG webOS Summit 2024. This technology was implemented on LG’s webOS smart TV, as well as Razer’s game controller, resulting in input lag of only 1 ms between the two devices.

Razer has developed the world’s first gaming controller with BT ULL technology. To demonstrate its improved performance, LG and Razer compared the BT ULL controller to a standard Bluetooth gamepad. The new controller delivers superior responsiveness, reduced input lag, and precision control from BT ULL technology across a variety of games, including FPS, fighting and racing games, running through a cloud gaming service on an LG webOS TV.

LG plans to introduce a certification program for third-party game controllers in the near future to ensure that BT ULL controllers are fully compatible with LG webOS-based smart TVs. Razer will be the first company to receive this certification from LG.

LG also reports that in partnership with MediaTek it is working to integrate BT ULL technology into the MediaTek Wi-Fi MT7921 wireless module. It is based on the MediaTek Filogic platform and also offers support for Wi-Fi 6. In 2025, LG will launch premium OLED and QNED TVs with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and above, which will support BT ULL technology.
