HP announced the launch of artificial intelligence-based features called HP Print AI, which will provide “industry-first intelligent printing.” In addition to the presence of algorithms based on neural networks, this product is designed to “simplify and improve printing – from setup to support.”
HP Print AI has several tools in its arsenal, but the Perfect Output option is the most interesting. It should solve the problem of printing web pages that usually don’t turn out very well on paper. The developers claim that Perfect Output will automatically remove extra space from pages where there are no visual elements and text, and will also remove advertisements if they are present on the original web page.
The size of images will also be optimized, so printing web pages should be as good as printing a regular text document. HP says everything will “lay out perfectly on the page the first time.” However, Perfect Output is not just for printing from websites. According to the developers, it will make it easier to print spreadsheets, which are also often difficult to transfer to paper.
The Perfect Output feature began rolling out this week, but so far only to a limited number of HP printer users. The company said the tool will work with any of the company’s printers, as long as the required driver is installed on the computer and it’s running Windows 11 or Windows 10. After receiving feedback from early users, the company plans to begin rolling out the new feature on a larger scale.
HP Print AI features will also be used to configure custom devices and provide support. The company said HP’s “intelligent technology anticipates” user needs. The ability to ask the chatbot questions in natural language and receive answers has been implemented. The bot runs on HP’s own large language model, which the company calls its “print language model” or PLM. For now, all the innovations are tied to the printer driver, but next year, as updates are released, they will also become available in HP branded applications.
