Google has updated the mobile video editor in the Google Photos app for Android and iOS with new editing tools and AI-powered presets that deliver one-tap video effects. The update provides improved speed control for creating slow-motion or sped-up videos and offers an updated trimming tool for more precise cutting of footage.
New AI-powered video presets let you make one-click changes—automatically trimming videos, controlling speed, and adjusting lighting. New presets will also add slow motion, zoom, and dynamic motion tracking effects to a specific object in a video. The new AI-powered features are grouped in a separate Presets tab under the video timeline, separate from other editing tools.
Android devices will get a new Speed tool for creating slow-motion or sped-up videos, a new Auto Enhance feature that improves color and stability, and an updated trimming tool for more precise editing of your footage. The position of the tools directly below the video timeline has been optimized to make it easier for users to find frequently used functions such as mute, enhance, stabilize, and export frame.
According to Google, these updates are starting to roll out today and will be available on all devices over time.
