Semiconductor manufacturer Qualcomm will lay off hundreds of employees who work at the company’s facilities in San Diego, USA, by the end of this year. 226 people representing 16 divisions will lose their jobs, including Qualcomm headquarters, where cybersecurity specialists are located.

It is unknown whether the wave of layoffs will affect employees in the cybersecurity division, since this information is not specified in the Qualcomm message. Note that Qualcomm announced a new round of layoffs less than a year after 1,250 company employees lost their jobs. A company spokesman declined to comment on the matter.

«Our advanced technology and product portfolio enable us to pursue a diversification strategy. As part of our normal business processes, we prioritize and allocate investments, resources and talent to ensure we are optimally positioned to take advantage of the unprecedented diversification opportunities before us,” said Qualcomm spokeswoman Kristin Stiles.
