MSI has released four variants of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ventus graphics card with GDDR6 memory. The new product is distinguished from the original GeForce RTX 4070 models with GDDR6X memory by the new “E1” marking in the name.
The GeForce RTX 4070 Ventus 3X features a triple-fan cooling system, while the GeForce RTX 4070 Ventus 2X features a dual-fan cooling system. Each card is available both in a standard version and with GPU overclocking. In the first case, the frequency of the graphics chip will be 2490 MHz, and in the second – 2520 MHz.
The new products copy the original GeForce RTX 4070 Ventus 3X and Ventus 2X with GDDR6X memory and offer the same frequencies for GPUs. The only difference is the use of slower GDDR6 memory at 20 Gbps per pin instead of GDDR6X at 21 Gbps per pin.
Unlike a number of other brands, MSI does not indicate on the boxes of its video cards that the new GeForce RTX 4070 variants use GDDR6 memory.
As the first gaming tests have shown, the GeForce RTX 4070 with GDDR6 is practically the same in performance as the model with GDDR6X.
The GeForce RTX 4070 Ventus 2X E1 model has already appeared at retailers in Germany at a price of €582, which is about €46 more expensive than the cheapest version of the RTX 4070 with GDDR6X memory.
