Corsair has closed its acquisition of Endor AG, which specializes in creating equipment for racing simulators and is the owner of the Fanatec brand. Endor is considered a leading manufacturer of specialized equipment including force feedback steering wheels, pedals and cockpits for racing simulators on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
Corsair’s racing simulator division debuted new cockpits equipped with Fanatec accessories at Gamescom. Now Fanatec products can be considered Corsair products, since after the completion of the acquisition of Endor AG, the brand became owned by Corsair.
It was previously reported that Endor faced financial difficulties. The company’s debt amounted to about €70 million. Corsair also helped the manufacturer solve “short-term cash needs” while it was working on debt restructuring issues. In parallel with this, negotiations were underway to purchase Endor.
Endor’s bankruptcy case was launched on September 13. Shortly thereafter, Corsair acquired Endor’s business units and announced its intention to assume responsibility for all existing labor contracts. This means that Endor and Fanatec employees will not be laid off, at least at this stage. At the same time, Corsair did not buy the property owned by Endor; at the moment it remains for sale.
It’s hard to say what the future holds for Fanatec. Despite Endor’s financial problems, the brand continued to develop and introduce new products to the market. Under Corsair’s leadership, Fanatec will likely continue to create new devices in close collaboration with Corsair’s newly created sim racing hardware division.
