Google co-founder and former president of Alphabet holding Sergey Brin said that he returned to work at the company where he works “almost every day.” According to him, he has not seen anything as exciting as progress in the field of artificial intelligence, and he does not want to miss it.
Brin made the announcement in an interview during the All-In Summit event in Los Angeles this week. Last year, several publications reported that Brin had returned to Google headquarters, where he is working on various projects in the field of AI. But this time he himself publicly commented on his return to the company.
«It’s a big, fast-growing field,” he said of AI. In his opinion, it is of “colossal importance for humanity.” However, Brin doubts that training more efficient AI will require a significant increase in computing resources. “I’ve read some papers that talk about extrapolation [of calculations], and I don’t know if I believe it – partly because the optimization of algorithms that has happened over the past few years may actually even outpace the growth in computing power embedded in these models,” said Sergey Brin.
