Barcelona-based Studio Koba, known for the retro-futuristic action film Narita Boy, has announced its next project – a stylish action platformer Haneda Girl, inspired by Hotline Miami, Katana Zero and Broforce.
The events of Haneda Girl will unfold in the Data Empire, which has been captured by insidious hackernauts. Only the girl Haneda and her tactical combat robot M.O.T.H.E.R (mother in English) can liberate the country.
Haneda relies on his light katana and high mobility in battle, while the robot relies on brute force and firearms. You can and should switch between characters to solve problems in the most effective ways.
According to the authors, each skirmish with the enemies of the Data Empire can be completed using a variety of methods. The game encourages creativity and is aimed at a wide audience: from casual gamers to speedrunners.
Haneda Girl boasts a rich gaming experience, responsive controls, a challenging and addictive gameplay loop, and replayability as the core of Haneda Girl’s experience.
They promise the opportunity to “dance the waltz of destruction”, alternative game modes (unlocked by achievement and collecting items), a relaxed but solid plot, cute pixel art and a techno-style soundtrack.
Haneda Girl has so far been confirmed as a PC exclusive (the publisher helped release Narita Boy on consoles) and has no release date. According to the Steam page, the game only supports English, Spanish and Japanese at this stage.
