Polish studio The Astronauts, founded by ex-developers of Painkiller and Bulletstorm, did not lie when they talked about the imminent release of their fantasy role-playing shooter Witchfire in Steam Early Access. The team has announced the exact release date.
Let us remind you that the creators of the game confirmed plans to release Witchfire on Steam at the end of the summer. It was assumed that the project would reach the Valve service in the fourth quarter (that is, from October to December) of the current year.
As it became known, Witchfire will be released on Steam Early Access even earlier than expected – on September 23. The release will contain all updates released on the Epic Games Store, including The Wailing Tower.
The authors will reveal the exact launch time and the small surprise promised to users of the Valve service later, but for now they have confirmed several features of Witchfire on Steam:
In Witchfire, gamers take on the role of an altar-turned witch hunter armed with the sorcerers of the Vatican. The project mixed elements of Souls games, evacuation shooters and roguelikes.
Witchfire Early Access started on September 20, 2023 in EGS, and a full release is planned for the end of 2025. Before the release of version 1.0, two major updates are expected (in early and mid-2025) and one experimental update (at the end of 2024).
The Astronauts is currently working on reworking and improving gameplay systems, new content and a secret feature, and is also preparing to tell a dramatic and dark story in Witchfire.
