The AeroHT division of the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has announced the cost and timing of the start of sales of the modular electric minivan Land Aircraft Carrier, which will be equipped with an electric passenger drone. The car and drone kit will go on sale in 2026, and those wishing to purchase it will have to pay $280 thousand.
Xpeng plans to conduct the first public flight of an electric passenger drone in November. Construction of the plant for the production of the Land Aircraft Carrier starts this month, and pre-orders for the purchase of the new product will begin to be accepted later this year. The company plans to launch a pilot line by August next year, with first deliveries expected to begin by the end of 2025. The Guangzhou plant is expected to produce about 10 thousand modular minivans per year.
Land Aircraft Carrier is a three-axle minivan with a hybrid powertrain. Here, the 800-volt electric motor is complemented by an internal combustion engine, which is not mechanically connected to the wheels and is used as a generator to charge the traction battery.
Despite its impressive size, the minivan is designed to carry only four people, since a significant part of the internal space is occupied by a compartment for transporting a passenger drone, which is a two-seater electric-powered aircraft with vertical take-off and landing.
The minivan can cover about 1000 km after being fully charged and the tanks are refueled. Other characteristics, such as the flight range of the passenger drone, have not yet been announced. They will probably be announced closer to the start of mass production of the Land Aircraft Carrier.
