Huawei autopilot will be installed in electric SUVs BYD

Chinese giants in many cases compete with each other in the electric vehicle market, but companies from related segments are not afraid to cooperate with other market participants. In particular, Huawei announced its readiness to provide proprietary autopilot technologies for SUVs of the Fangchengbao brand, owned by the Chinese automaker BYD. Such machines will begin to enter the market before the end of this year.

The Bao 8 electric SUV will be the first carrier of Huawei’s proprietary Qiankin technology, as noted by Reuters. According to BYD, such cooperation will help promote Fangchengbao brand vehicles. In addition to it, BYD also offers Denza hybrids and electric vehicles produced jointly with Mercedes-Benz, and recently introduced the luxury brand Yangwang, which offers electric vehicles with unique consumer qualities.

BYD itself is also trying to develop its own autopilot technologies, and last year it hired thousands of engineers in the field. In production machines, it continues to depend on third-party control software developers. Denza, for example, uses Momenta software. Huawei’s solutions in this segment will also use Audi electric vehicles produced for the Chinese market. In the electric vehicle industry, BYD also cooperates with Seres (Aito), BAIC (Stellato) and Changan (Avatr).
