The media wrote about Samsung’s plans to release a “thin” version of the folding smartphone Galaxy Z Fold6 earlier this year. Now it has become known that the launch of this device, which is likely to be called Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim, could take place on September 25 in South Korea.
According to reports, the thickness of the new foldable Samsung smartphone will be just over 10 mm. The device will have larger 8- and 6.5-inch displays compared to the original Galaxy Z Fold6, which featured 7.6- and 6.3-inch screens. It is noted that Samsung is “doing everything possible” to make the new smartphone “another 0.1 millimeter thinner.”
Another interesting change in the Galaxy X Fold6 Slim may be the appearance of a titanium rear panel located behind the display. According to the source, Samsung has completed the development of a titanium back panel, but the decision on its use in the new smartphone has not yet been made. If the Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim does feature a titanium back panel instead of a steel one, this will reduce the weight of the device.
In addition to this, Samsung could improve the under-screen camera. According to rumors, the developers plan to use a 5-megapixel sensor instead of the 4-megapixel camera, which has been used in the Galaxy Z Fold series smartphones since 2021. Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim in South Korea and China, while selling the standard Galaxy Z Fold6 in the rest of the world.
