Razer introduced new gaming headsets – the wireless model Kraken V4 and its wired version Kraken V4 X. The manufacturer also boasted that over 12 years of the Kraken series’ existence, over 20 million units of this truly iconic gaming headset have been sold.
The new Razer Kraken V4 wireless model offers 2.4 GHz radio connectivity using the Razer HyperSpeed Wireless USB-C Bluetooth 5.3 adapter, as well as a USB Type-A cable. The headset can be used with a PC, as well as with Sony PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck and mobile devices.
The headset is powered by 40mm Razer TriForce Titanium drivers. The declared range of reproduced frequencies is from 20 Hz to 28 kHz. Kraken V4 has support for THX Spatial Audio technology (simulated 7.1 surround sound) with THX settings for over 60 different games. The manufacturer notes that the headset is equipped with a high-quality retractable wideband microphone from the BlackShark V2 Pro model. In addition, the headset received a special button for adjusting the balance of the game volume and the speaker’s speech, as well as a microphone on/off button and a special programmable SmartSwitch button.
The Razer Kraken V4 features nine-zone Razer Chroma RGB lighting with 16.8 million colors. In Razer HyperSpeed Wireless mode and with the backlight turned off, the headset will last up to 70 hours on a single battery charge, and up to 35 hours with the backlight. The Razer Kraken V4 weighs about 350 grams.
The Razer Kraken V4 X model practically repeats the characteristics of the Razer Kraken V4. The declared range of reproduced frequencies for this model is from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The new product is connected to the signal source either using a USB Type-C cable or using a USB Type-A (the necessary adapter is included in the package). Unlike the wireless version, the V4 X does not have a game/speech volume balance button. The Razer Kraken V4 X headset weighs 300 grams.
The Razer Kraken V4 wireless headset is already on sale. Its recommended price is $179.99/€199.99. The wired model Razer Kraken V4 X will be available before the end of the third quarter. Its cost will be $79.99/€89.99.
