Wi-Fi 6 and 5G: Banana Pi BPI-WiFi6 Mini board introduced for creating compact routers

Banana Pi’s assortment now includes a compact single-board computer, BPI-WiFi6 Mini, designed for building routers. The new product is a smaller version of the BPI-WiFi 6 product, which debuted in June 2023 and formed the basis of the Banana Pi BPI-WiFi 6 router.

Like its older brother, the BPI-WiFi6 Mini product carries on board a Triductor TR6560 processor with two Arm Cortex-A9 cores with a frequency of 1.2 GHz and a Triductor TR5220 chip, which supports Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE802.11a/b/ g/n/ac/ax) in the frequency ranges of 2.4 and 5 GHz (2×2 MIMO).

The new product has 128 MB of DDR3 memory and the same amount of SPI NAND memory, a USB 3.0 Type-C port for power supply and a USB 3.0 Type-A connector. One 1GbE LAN and one 1GbE WAN port with RJ-45 connectors are available. Dimensions are 65×65 mm.

Unlike the original version, the mini-board is equipped with an M.2 B-Key connector and a slot for a nano-SIM card. This allows you to install a 4G/5G NR cellular modem, such as the Quectecl RM500U 5G (sold separately). There are connectors for Wi-Fi and 5G antennas.

The Banana Pi BPI-WiFi6 Mini single board computer is available for order at an estimated price of $30. It is noted that the product is made in the same format as the Banana Pi BPI-R3 Mini model, and is therefore compatible with the corresponding cases.
