Microsoft will stop annoying Windows 10 users with calls to upgrade, but not for long

Many Windows 10 users in recent months have complained about pop-up screens encouraging them to upgrade to Windows 11. They appear regardless of whether the computer supports the new system, that is, they encourage them to buy a new PC just for the sake of the new OS. Now Microsoft has decided to abandon this practice, but not forever.

Microsoft has made some adjustments to how it displays screens inviting users to upgrade to Windows 11. The campaign apparently didn’t have the desired effect on users, so the software giant took user feedback into account and published the following message: “To respond to feedback from our users, these invitations are larger will not be shown with the April 2024 monthly update. We will share new plans in the coming months.”

On the one hand, the company’s promise to become less intrusive is welcome. It looks like Windows 10 users have won the final battle, but the last phrase in the statement indicates that Microsoft will still win the war. With Windows 10 ending support in October 2025, those annoying screens are likely to return and appear even more frequently. Those who decide to continue working with the outdated system with the cessation of official support will be able to use, for example, the services of a third-party developer 0patch, who is ready to provide it unofficially for another five years upon payment of a subscription.
