Intel Innovation event at the end of September will be canceled to save money

Intel Corporation admitted at its recent quarterly reporting conference that it will reduce not only capital expenditures, but also operating expenses, and the financing of various types of industry events falls under this heading. As a result of such optimization, it was decided to abandon the Intel Innovation event at the end of September this year in California.

Formally, as AnandTech explains, this Intel event is postponed for an indefinite period, but it is unlikely that the rental schedule for the premises in San Jose, where it was originally planned to be held, will be able to flexibly change to suit Intel’s needs for the time remaining until the end of the year, and therefore with some probability it is possible expect that the company will completely refuse to host Intel Innovation this year.

Initially, it was believed that Intel would use the platform of this event to demonstrate Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake processors, and the latter family is of particular importance for the company, since it will be produced using Intel 20A technology in combination with a RibbonFET transistor structure and power supply from the reverse side of the silicon wafer (PowerVia ). Later, these technologies will be implemented within the Intel 18A process technology, so the company intends to pay special attention to their nominal debut. One way or another, Intel will be able to demonstrate these processors before the end of the year, it’s just that the Intel Innovation event site, which was supposed to take place from September 24 to 25, will not be used for this. Now the company is going to focus on more modest events, and it is not completely abandoning participation in industry events. For example, Lunar Lake processors will be presented at IFA 2024 in Germany early next month.
