According to the VideoCardz resource, network sources have at their disposal information about the characteristics of some Intel Xeon 6 processors of the Granite Rapids family, which will be based on productive P-core cores. We are talking about Xeon 6900P chips, which are expected to hit the market in the current quarter.
The formal presentation of Xeon 6 Granite Rapids took place in early June of this year – along with Xeon 6 Sierra Forest products built on energy-efficient E-core cores. For the Xeon 6 platform, the use of LGA-4710 and LGA-7529 connectors is provided: in the first case, support for chips with a TDP of up to 350 W and 8-channel memory is declared, in the second – 500 W and 12-channel memory. Moreover, in both options it is possible to build two-socket servers.
As it became known, the Xeon 6 Granite Rapids family will include models with 32, 44, 56, 72, 96, 120 and 128 Redwood Cove cores. They will receive SMT support and up to 504 MB of L3 cache. The TDP value will be up to 500 W. In particular, it talks about the preparation of Xeon Platinum 6980P, 6979P, 6972P, 6952P and 6960P processors. Their base clock speed varies from 2.0 to 2.7 GHz (see specifications). Xeon 6 Granite Rapids chips claim support for DDR5-6400 and MCR-8800 memory, up to 96 PCIe Gen 5.0/CXL 2.0 lanes and up to 6 UPI 2.0 lanes.
