Activision has published a set of data related to the Caldera map from the shooter Call of Duty: Warzone – it is aimed at researchers and artificial intelligence training specialists.
«”This first-of-its-kind dataset for Call of Duty is now available in OpenUSD and contains nearly the entire geometry of Caldera, as well as a set of randomly selected anonymous time samples that show how players move around the map,” Activision explained. The company described it as one of the “largest [in terms of geometry complexity and number of elements] releases of open, field-tested datasets in the gaming industry.” Finally, this is one of the largest publicly available datasets in the OpenUSD format developed at Pixar.
This array will be useful in training AI and developing methods for generating content, noted Activision CTO Natalya Tatarchuk. The gaming industry is now exploring the use of generative AI in new projects, although some developers are concerned that it could have a negative impact on the quality of the material.
