Gran Turismo 7 developers apologize for a bug that launches cars into space

Released yesterday, July 25, update 1.49 for the racing simulator Gran Turismo 7 from Polyphony Digital brought with it an additional track, six cars, an upgrade of the physical model and something unexpected.

Soon after the patch’s premiere, social networks were filled with videos in which a variety of vehicles from the updated Gran Turismo 7 began to behave, to put it mildly, strangely.

In numerous gameplay segments, cars driven by both players and AI began to be thrown into the sky with varying degrees of force – some vehicles seemed to go straight into the stratosphere.

As Reddit users report, the problem occurs not only in normal mode, but also in VR mode (see video below), which has already been hailed as a “real vomiting simulator,” and even in intro videos.

GTPlanet journalists concluded that the problem was the result of the introduction of new physics and mostly affects cars with a replaced engine and “rather extreme” suspension settings.

Polyphony Digital apologized for the “inconvenience caused” and assured that the problem was already being investigated, and also confirmed that unintended behavior occurs when certain vehicle settings are set.

Gran Turismo 7 debuted in March 2022 on PS4 and PS5. Since its release, the game has received dozens of updates that added additional cars and tracks to the project.
