WhatsApp developers continue to add useful features to the messenger. This time they have implemented support for the Nearby Share feature, which is an analogue of Appleās AirDrop and allows you to directly transfer files between devices. At the moment, the innovation has appeared in the latest beta versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS.
The Nearby Share feature allows you to transfer documents, photos, videos and other files without an Internet connection to nearby devices. Since the feature is supported on both Android and iOS, users will find it easier to share data between different operating systems.
However, on Android devices, Nearby Share can automatically detect nearby devices, while on iOS, you need to scan a QR code to start transferring data. It is noted that at this stage the Nearby Share function is at the development stage, so its final version for iOS will probably also be able to detect nearby devices automatically.
The main advantage of Nearby Share is that the feature allows you to quickly share large files, such as videos. Moreover, in the beta version there are no restrictions on the size of transferred files. It is still unknown when exactly Nearby Share may appear in stable versions of WhatsApp.
