Following Alpha Protocol, specialists from the digital distribution service GOG have revived a classic of the horror genre – the original version of the very first Resident Evil, released back in 1996.
Let us recall that Resident Evil was once released on PC, but only the 2015 version has survived in digital format to this day, which is a remaster of the remake of the game (2002) from Nintendo GameCube.
Released on GOG today, June 26, Resident Evil is the original version of the classic game, adapted for modern systems:
GOG claims that the Resident Evil now available on the store contains all the original content and “even more blood, graphic violence and gore” than the popular version for the first PlayStation.
Resident Evil is sold on GOG separately for $10 and as part of the Resident Evil Bundle for $25. In addition to the first part, the set includes Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis – they already have pages on the service.
As with the original game, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis will be released on GOG in their original form, with similar enhancements for modern systems. Both are expected to be released in 2024.
Among other things, the Resident Evil 2 port will include the 4th Survivor and Tofu modes unlocked from the start of the game, while Resident Evil 3: Nemesis will include the Mercenaries arcade mode.
