Heroes of Our Time: Ubisoft Announces Mobile Blockchain Game Might and Magic Fates

Ubisoft’s fantasy RPG franchise Might and Magic hasn’t seen a new release in over a decade, but today’s announcement is unlikely to please longtime fans of the series.

Australian blockchain and NFT gaming company Immutable has partnered with Ubisoft to introduce Might and Magic Fates, a free-to-play card game set in the legendary universe.

The game takes place in the Sea of Fates multiverse, where heroes and creatures from all eras are drawn. The necromancer lich Sandro threatens to summon a void of nothingness that can swallow up everything that exists.

Players will have to collect hundreds of unique cards, build their own deck, and enter into “grandiose tactical duels” with the participation of mighty heroes and mythical creatures to determine the fate of the multiverse.

It wasn’t clear from the minute-long teaser trailer that accompanied the announcement, but Might and Magic Fates includes an “optional Web3 component” with digital item ownership for “those players who want it.”

Digital items (like collectible cards) will be assigned to specific players and will be available for exchange/trading via Immutable’s blockchain. The company assures that this does not provide any gameplay advantages.

Might and Magic Fates is scheduled to be released in early 2026 on smartphones (iOS and Android), but Immutable hasn’t ruled out a PC release either. They promise new card types, factions with their own playstyles, the spirit of Might and Magic, and “monumental rewards.”
