Today, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan named AI as one of the company’s four “big bets” for 2025. He highlighted the company’s investments in AI tools for creators, including ideation, thumbnail generation, and simultaneous translation. AI dubbing will be available to creators this month. AI will also detect the age of users to suggest appropriate content. And AI will protect influencers from AI.

Mohan said the auto-dubbing feature will be available to all creators in the YouTube Partner Program this month. The tool will help dramatically increase your reach by providing simultaneous translation into multiple languages with minimal effort.

YouTube plans to use AI, among other things, to control the use of AI (as investigators say, “the main thing in the investigation process is not to get to yourself”). First of all, the program of interaction with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) will be significantly expanded. It should protect people in creative professions, including artists, actors, musicians and athletes, from copying their appearance or voice. CAA will expand the capabilities of the existing Content ID copyright identification system by detecting images or voices created using AI tools.

Mohan said that YouTube will begin using machine learning technology to estimate the age of users this year to show age-appropriate recommendations. He did not disclose how the new technology will determine age. He also avoided asking about the possible AI errors that will inevitably arise.

Over the past year, YouTube has rolled out a range of AI features to create images, video backgrounds, or generate soundtracks for short videos. But adding AI to the video creation process itself has not been without controversy, with critics arguing that low-quality AI-generated content will flood YouTube, crowding out original work.

In addition to further reckless implementation of AI, YouTube has set itself other, rather ambitious goals for 2025:

  • Reclaim TikTok’s cultural leadership.
  • Position yourself as the new Hollywood.
  • Shift the focus to the big screen as TV has become more popular than mobile devices for watching YouTube.
