YouTube launched new experiments on paid subscribers

YouTube is offering paid subscribers new experimental features such as improved audio, offline viewing of short videos, and more. YouTube Premium also has the ability to simultaneously test several functions and reduce the cost of a subscription by combining it with other services.

Among the experimental features available for testing is improved audio quality, allowing subscribers to experience 256 kbps audio in music videos with greater clarity and depth. iOS also introduced a Picture-in-Picture feature for YouTube Shorts, allowing you to watch short videos while using other apps. Another new feature is automatic downloading of recommended Shorts for offline viewing, The Verge reports.

Additionally, the artificial intelligence (AI) feature that lets you skip to the most popular moments in a video is now available on the web. Previously, this innovation was implemented only for mobile devices. In the near future, the company also promises to add advanced video playback speed settings on mobile devices. The new option will allow you to increase the viewing speed up to four times. However, the exact date of its appearance has not yet been announced – YouTube representatives only specify that this will happen “soon.”

Another innovation concerns the cost of subscription. YouTube Premium becomes slightly cheaper if you subscribe as part of a package with Google One cloud storage. This option is available on Google One Premium plans (starting at $9.99 per month for 2TB). At the same time, the savings will be $2 per month, which will return the price of the service to the level of 2023 and make the subscription more attractive.
