YouTube has begun rolling out its community notes feature to a limited number of users. Social media users began publishing screenshots of the platform’s official invitation to take part in testing the new feature.

The YouTube administration spoke about work on the function in June. It allows users of the platform to submit short notes that provide additional context or correct information from the accompanying video. There is no official launch date for the new feature yet, but information about it has already appeared in the platform’s help section.
This feature preview is only available to English-speaking mobile users in the US. Previously, YouTube administration reported that invitations to take part in its testing would be sent via email or messages from the Creator Studios account. The company is seeking feedback from program participants to help the platform rank notes as “helpful,” “somewhat helpful,” or “not helpful,” a feature that will likely be rolled out to the public only after that.
