An effective means to avoid undesirable content are advertising blockers, but Google owning the Google platform is categorically against them: now extremely long -term commercials are demonstrated to users of these tools.

Ad blocker users began complaining on Reddit that YouTube began showing them an ongoing series of commercials that were so long that they doubted their desire to watch the video they wanted. So, in order to watch a 49-minute video, YouTube offered one user an ad lasting 52 minutes; another complained about the 58-minute ad. There have been reports of advertisements lasting 10 and even 90 hours, but this has not yet been confirmed. One of the screenshots showed the inscription “Skipping ads”, which indicates the use of a blocker.

Google, which has previously warned ad blocker users to disable them and even prevented them from watching the videos they wanted, admitted that it had decided to take extreme measures. “Advertising is a vital tool for our creators to run and grow their business. This is why using ad blockers violates YouTube’s Terms of Service. “We’ve launched a global campaign to encourage viewers with ad blockers turned on to allow ads on YouTube or try YouTube Premium for an ad-free experience,” a company spokesperson told Android Authority.

He added that the standard, unknown advertising on YouTube has a duration of only 15 seconds, but the company is making efforts to detect users trying to get rid of it, and it is interested in dissuading them from this. Google was not directly mentioned that they began to show negligent users extremely long advertising, but noted that in extreme cases, the company reserves the right to disconnect the opportunity for them to watch the video.
