Yandex has introduced its first device in the security category — a smart IP camera. It can broadcast video in real time, save recordings to a memory card or the cloud, and send notifications to the user’s smartphone if it detects movement or a person in the frame.

The device will help monitor the house during vacation or while the user is at work. The IP camera can be integrated into the smart home ecosystem – the “Home with Alice” application and Wi-Fi are enough to connect. The device can be controlled both through the application and by voice commands to Alice. The image from the camera can be displayed on the phone screen, TV Station or Duo Max Station display. The IP camera can be used in existing smart home scenarios or new ones can be created for it. For example, when the phrase “Alice, I’m leaving” is said, the lights in the apartment will go out and the camera will start recording so that the user can make sure that everything is in order at home at any time.

The camera supports recording in resolution up to 2K, has a viewing angle of 103 degrees and is equipped with a 350-degree rotation mechanism. The shooting direction can be changed directly from the application. Recordings from the camera can be saved to a memory card or to the cloud with a subscription. The camera can shoot continuously or only when movement or a person is detected in the frame.

The IP camera can be turned off via the app or using voice commands: “Alice, turn on privacy mode” or “Alice, turn off the camera.” You can also set a scenario for turning off – for example, so that the camera automatically turns off and turns away at 19:00 or after the phrase “Alice, I’m home.” The device is equipped with a mute button, like on Yandex Stations. When you press it, the camera will turn the lens away and completely turn off the microphone. You can turn it on only by pressing the button again.

The smart IP camera from Yandex will go on sale in June. The cost of the device is not reported.
