According to Jiemian Global, Xiaomi’s team of artificial intelligence specialists was created back in 2016, and over the next seven years its staff increased sixfold to more than 3,000 people. Since this year, these specialists have had about 6,500 GPU-based computational accelerators at their disposal, with which they have been able to train large language models. Smartphones, the Internet of Things, robotics and electric vehicles are the areas of activity in which Xiaomi plans to apply relevant developments.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun personally oversees the development of artificial intelligence in the company. At the same time, from the point of view of the range of hardware solutions, it calls not to be scattered on some fashion trends, including augmented reality glasses, but to focus on the same smartphones.

However, he is also betting big on the electric vehicle segment, hoping to turn Xiaomi into one of the five largest automakers in the world in a few years. Starting next year, the debut SU7 model will be accompanied by the YU7 crossover; rumors also attribute Xiaomi’s intentions to develop its own processor for smartphones.
