Xiaomi SU7 Max Electric Car Receives Top Safety Rating in C-NCAP Crash Tests

The Chinese company Xiaomi has been selling its SU7 electric cars for almost a year, and before that it had no relevant experience in their production and design, but it is even more important that the brand’s first-born earned the highest safety ratings according to the C-NCAP methodology. The Xiaomi SU7 Max sedan turned out to be the best among all passenger cars tested in China according to the 2024 rules.

As CarNewsChina notes, several Xiaomi SU7 Max with lidar and all-wheel drive were purchased for crash testing, and the purchases were made anonymously from a randomly selected dealer to prevent the automaker from rigging the results. In China, this version of the sedan costs $41,345 and is equipped with the company’s Pilot Max active driver assistance system.

The test organisers confirmed the high efficiency of the braking system, including its automatic functions. Among other things, this helped to achieve a rating of 90.42% in the category of protection of vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists. The average rating for this criterion is 13.14 percentage points lower.

The passengers and driver of the Xiaomi SU7 Max are also well protected, as the sedan showed a rating of 94.31% in this criterion. In terms of the effectiveness of active safety systems, the car scored the highest among all cars tested in China – 95.25%.

The Xiaomi SU7 Max’s overall safety score was 93.5%, or five stars, which is the best result of all cars tested by the 2024 C-NCAP methodology. For a company that has never made cars before, this is quite an impressive achievement.
