Xiaomi produced 135,000 electric vehicles last year and hopes to produce 300,000 this year.

Formally, Xiaomi introduced its first electric car a little over a year ago, but the SU7 sedan began going on sale only at the end of March. Throughout last year, the model remained in short supply; Xiaomi managed to exceed the plan by the end of 2024, delivering more than 135,000 machines to customers. For this year, the company is setting an even higher target of 300,000 electric vehicles.

The founder and CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, said this in his video message the day before, as reported by CnEVPost. Let us recall that in the spring the company intended to deliver only 100,000 electric vehicles by the end of 2024, but by the fall it gained confidence in its ability to raise the bar to 130,000 cars. In November and December, monthly production volumes at Xiaomi’s only plant in Beijing exceeded 20,000 electric vehicles. It is assumed that by the end of 2024 the company was supposed to complete the construction of a second electric vehicle assembly plant, which would be located next to the first.

In fact, shipments of Xiaomi SU7 electric vehicles exceeded 135,000 units at the end of last year, exceeding even the company’s adjusted plan. This year, as Lei Jun made clear, the young automaker expects to produce 300,000 electric vehicles. Apparently, this will be facilitated by the commissioning of a second plant, since both sites are designed for a similar annual production volume of electric vehicles. Xiaomi sales points selling cars of this brand operate in 58 cities of China, there are more than 200 of them in total.

In March of this year, deliveries of the brand’s most expensive electric car should begin, which so far is the super-powerful SU7 Ultra sedan, presented at the end of October. By the summer, the YU7 crossover is preparing to accompany him, the characteristics of which have not yet been disclosed, but the appearance has already been made public.
