Xiaomi introduced the thin and light folding smartphone Mix Fold 4 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and Leica cameras

Foldable devices are growing rapidly in China, shrinking in size while offering more powerful chipsets, advanced cameras and larger batteries. Xiaomi’s new Mix Fold 4 weighs just 226 grams, features a 7.98-inch main display and four Leica rear cameras, including a periscope lens with 5x zoom. The thickness of the smartphone is 4.59 mm when unfolded and 9.47 mm when folded.

The frame of the new product is made of high-strength T800H carbon fiber, which, according to the manufacturer, provides 300% better impact protection compared to its predecessor.

Mix Fold 4 is Xiaomi’s first foldable phone with an IPX8 rating that can withstand up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.

The external screen is a 6.56-inch LTPO OLED display with FHD+ resolution, 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 21:9 aspect ratio. The main display is a 7.98-inch panel made of ultra-thin glass (UTG), which also has FHD+ resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120Hz. Xiaomi claims that both displays offer peak brightness of up to 3,000 cd/m².

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset coupled with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of internal storage. The smartphone runs Xiaomi HyperOS shell based on Android 14 and is equipped with a 5100 mAh Xiaomi Surge battery with 67 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging.

Xiaomi has paid serious attention to the photographic capabilities of the new product: Mix Fold 4 is equipped with four main Leica cameras with Summilux lenses. The main camera with an equivalent focal length of 23 mm is equipped with a LYT-800 sensor with a resolution of 50 MP, f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization. It is complemented by a 50-megapixel portrait camera with an equivalent focal length of 47 mm and a 10-megapixel periscope camera with 5x optical zoom and an equivalent focal length of 115 mm. The fourth camera is an ultra-wide-angle lens with a focal length of 15 mm and a resolution of 12 MP. Both front cameras of the device, located under the screens, have a resolution of 20 megapixels.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 comes in black, white and blue colors.

The version with 12 GB of RAM and a 256 GB storage capacity costs 8,999 yuan ($1,237), the version with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB storage capacity costs 9,999 yuan ($1,375), the maximum configuration with 16 GB of RAM and terabyte storage costs 10,999 yuan ($1,513).
