The XFX company showed at CES 2025 a pair of video cards of the new Radeon RX 9070 series in proprietary versions. The manufacturer did not announce the names of the new products, but noted that both designs will be used for both the younger Radeon RX 9070 model and the older RX 9070 XT. The cards are presented in white and black versions.
The black model is four expansion slots thick. This design will be produced in two variants. One does not have RGB lighting. The other version will be more premium. At its top is an RGB LED diffuser that spans the entire top leading edge, including the triangular ends with the XFX and Radeon logos. It was not shown at the exhibition.
The black card is equipped with a huge aluminum radiator, as well as three fans, apparently with a diameter of 90 or 100 mm. The rear reinforcing plate of the new product has perforations in the form of channels.
The size of the printed circuit board visible through the reinforcing plate is approximately 3/4 of the entire length of the video card. On the back side there is also a large slot in the reinforcement plate for freer air movement from the third fan. The card receives additional power via three 8-pin connectors. This configuration implies the ability to transfer up to 575 W of power to the GPU.
If you believe the rumors, the maximum power consumption of the same Radeon RX 9070 XT will be around 300 W. This is not the only version of the Radeon RX 9070 series card with three 8-pin connectors. For example, the Asus TUF Gaming and Gigabyte Aorus Elite models have the same feature. And the previously presented ASRock Taichi is generally equipped with one 12+4-pin 12V2x6 power connector, which is more commonly found on GeForce RTX 40 and 50 series models from Nvidia.
Yet most of the other versions of the RX 9070 series cards shown so far are equipped with only two 8-pin connectors. The presence of three 8-pin power connectors may hint that the RX 9070 XT has some headroom for overclocking.
The white card is also equipped with a cooling system with three fans, but its thickness is three expansion slots. The printed circuit board of the new product seems to occupy 2/3 of the length of the entire video card. This way, air from the third fan also flows freely through the large slot at the back of the reinforcement plate. This model is equipped with two 8-pin power connectors.
