Xbox Game Studios CEO Says Releasing Xbox Exclusives on PS5 Is a ‘Win-Win’ for Both Players and Developers

The official Xbox YouTube channel has released a new podcast with an interesting guest: Craig Duncan, the new head of Xbox Game Studios. He talked about the current state of affairs at Xbox’s internal studios and Microsoft’s stated course to expand the platform geography of the division’s games.

Duncan believes that Xbox’s multi-platform strategy is a “win-win” for both gamers and developers. Last year, several Xbox exclusives were released on PS5 and/or Nintendo Switch, including Sea of Thieves, which Duncan led at Rare before taking on his new role.

«Our studios make amazing games, and we want to give those games the chance to reach the widest possible audience,” Duncan said. “Everyone who makes a game wants it to reach as many people as possible.”

Recall that in January, Microsoft announced the development of a version of Forza Horizon 5 for PS5, and in February, it confirmed ports of Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.

During the podcast, Duncan called the upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages “an incredible installment in the legendary series” that will be different from its predecessors in many ways. The Xbox Game Studios boss also confirmed that Fable has been delayed until 2026, and asked people to pay attention to Obsidian Entertainment’s recently released RPG Avowed.
