X Glitch Makes Social Network Unavailable to Tens of Thousands of Users

Social media platform X was down for tens of thousands of users in the U.S. and other countries today, according to analytics website Downdetector. The site says the number of outage reports has risen to more than 40,000 after a slight dip earlier in the day.

More than 10,000 UK users also reported service outages today, with two spikes in outages also reported in Europe.

The cause of the malfunction is not yet clear, and X representatives are refraining from commenting.

In October 2022, American billionaire Elon Musk raised about $13 billion of the $44 billion he needed in the debt market when he bought the social network Twitter, which he later renamed X. Musk recently admitted to X employees that the platform barely covers its operating costs. Musk said that “social network user growth is stagnant, revenue is unimpressive, and we are barely avoiding losses.”
