No more “asterisks” – now voice input in Windows 11 will not replace obscene and profanity words with them. At the numerous requests of users who accused Microsoft of “hypocrisy”, the company added a profanity filter switch, which will ensure the full display of curses, swearing, vulgarisms, obscenities and other euphemisms during voice input.

The latest Windows 11 Insider build 26120.3941 introduces a switch that allows you to transcribe even the most “indecent” words. Now, when the profanity filter is disabled, a set of “asterisks” will no longer mask the user’s reaction to accidentally spilling hot coffee on themselves.

«”We’re excited to respond to some of our most popular customer feedback about voice input by rolling out a new setting that lets you control the profanity filter,” Microsoft said. Many users have welcomed the change, noting that it will now be easier to use voice input to write emotional feedback about Microsoft’s latest fixes and updates.

The rest of the new features in the latest update are mostly focused on improving the user experience for Copilot+ PC owners. In particular, Microsoft fixed an issue where images used with Click to Do actions would get stuck in the PC’s temp folder. The company also changed the Improved Windows Search settings for users signed into OneDrive with a work or school account so that search results now only show text snippets, not images.

As usual, there’s no guarantee that new features introduced in the Insider build will make it to the release version of the OS. But in the case of the profanity filter switch, it would be a ******* shame.
