Microsoft has released a new preview of Windows 11 to Windows Insiders in the Canary channel. One of the most notable improvements is that File Explorer now performs better when extracting files from archives.

The file manager promises to speed up in Windows 11 Build 27818 — the most noticeable performance gain will be when unpacking a large number of archive files. The OS will no longer offer a set of actions when copying a phone number or a future date — this feature has been recognized as obsolete by Microsoft. The Windows Security application will begin to show additional information, including the manufacturer and version of the Pluton TPM chip, if present on the computer.
Fixed a crash in d3d9.dll library, first seen in build 27802, which caused several apps to fail to launch for some Windows Insiders. Fixed two bugs in taskbar: one caused pop-ups with app thumbnails to have the wrong corner radius, and another caused app icons to remain underlined even after they were closed. Stabilized ctmon.exe – due to problems with this file, difficulties with text input were possible. Fixed a bug due to which Settings would not open.
Fixed a bug with user profile field naming for Japanese Windows; a bug that caused video playback to slow down when switching multi-screen modes; fixed a DirectX bug that prevented some games from launching; a bug that prevented Visual Studio Code from being installed; a bug that caused the remote computer to freeze when connecting; and another bug that caused some applications to fail to launch with a message that they “could not load a required virtual machine component.”
