Recall that Western Digital announced its decision to divide a business to produce hard magnetic discs and solid -state memory on October 30, 2023, and it was initially believed that restructuring would end in the second half of 2024. Nevertheless, in November last year, the duties of technical support for solid-state products of the stamps of Western Digital, HGST and G-TechNOology moved to Sandisk. This company was absorbed in Western Digital in 2016, but now their paths should be dispersed again.
At the helm of the independent Sandisk will be the current CEO of Western Digital David Goeckeler, while the “classic” business of the company will continue to develop under the control of the current Global Operations of Irving Tan. In December, Sandisk introduced a new logo and determined a new form of writing its name – “Sandisk”. Apparently, this month the latest formalities necessary for the final separation of Western Digital will be settled.
